Stuffed Peppers Italian Style
These bell peppers are stuffed with a tasty mixture of bread, onions, garlic, olives and anchovies, and slowly simmered in the oven.
Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C).
Peppers should be put in a greased baking dish; keep it aside.
In a large bowl, combine the crumbled bread with the water, and set aside.
In a sizable, heavy skillet over low heat, heat the oil.
Stir in garlic after cooking onion until it turns translucent.
2 minutes of cooking the garlic, then stir it into the bread.
Add anchovies, olives, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the dish.
Blend thoroughly after mixing.
Stuff pepper halves to the top.
Tomato sauce and a small amount of water should be placed around the peppers.
Wrap in foil.
Bake peppers in a hot oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until they are soft.
For the final 15 minutes of baking, remove the cover and occasionally baste with sauce.
