I threw this together because I had some leftover ham hock and cabbage. Because it sounded awful, I was shocked beyond belief.

Combine the lima beans, ham hocks, water, cabbage, and butter in a big pot.

Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder to season.

Bring to a boil, then turn down the heat to low and cover with a lid, leaving a crack for steam to escape.

For 1 1/2 hours, simmer.

15 to 20 minutes of simmering with the lid on after removing it, adding the tomatoes and sausage
