Grandma’s Old Fashioned Tea Cakes
These cut-out tea cakes are made with rich sugar cookie dough that’s flavored with vanilla and nutmeg. Everyone will love their buttery flavor!
With an electric mixer, combine sugar and butter in a big bowl and beat until fluffy.
One at a time, beat well after each addition of an egg.
Add vanilla extract and blend.
Incorporate flour, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg after combining flour and buttermilk.
On a board dusted with flour, knead the dough until it is smooth.
Cover and chill for about 30 minutes, or until firm.
Set the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees C).
The dough should be rolled out to a thickness of 1/4 inch on a lightly dusted surface.
Using cookie cutters, cut into the desired shapes.
Put the cookies on the baking sheets 1 1/2 inches apart.
